Hi Andy,

You will need to register for self assessment to reactivate your account.

Your UTR number would only change if you have been declared bankrupt or sequestrated.

Please follow the attached link to register:

Register for and file your Self Assessment tax return

The self assessment helpline number is 0300 200 3310 if you have any further queries or require assistance to register

I am a PAYE employee and have been trying to claim tax relief on work / business mileage expenses covering the tax years 15,16 and 17. Having set up numerous gateway IDs and registering countless times for a personal tax account, the self assessment tile or option is still not appearing. All i have under the Income section is PAYE and National Insurance. I don't always have time to wait ages for a telephone operator to help and when i do (on numerous occasions) all i get told to do is submit a help request which goes nowhere or set up a new online account. I dont owe the HMRC anything as my employer deducts my tax - i just want to get some back! Due to the inability to resolve the IT problem and because i work full time, I have had to pay £400 in late penalties which cover 4 years even though i am only claiming for 3 tax years - all when i dont owe anything! I shall be claiming the penalties back. But I am getting nowhere and nobody seems to be able to solve the IT issue. Its bad enough thinking about how i even complete the online return if i ever do get it fixed. I just want the claim done and dusted with no more hassle from HMRC thinking i owe them!

Could you please tell me how long I should be waiting for the letter with my UTR as I registered as a Nominated partner on the 9th June and have not heard anything yet.

Hi

We need more informtion to deal with this question. Were you registering a new partnership, becoming a partner in (ie joining) the partnership, or now becoming the nominated partner for your pre-existeing partnership? Thanks.
