National Insurace Class 2 showing as 0.00 on Self Assessment
I'm self employed and have been applying for a mortgage. The Mortgage Adviser/Lender has requested Tax Overviews and Tax Calculations.
They both say different amounts of tax are due- the Tax Calculation being the lesser amount by about £300. At the top of this calculation it says 'The Class 2 NICs amount is not available'.
I've spoken to the HMRC on the phone any they don't see this discrepancy on their system. Their sending a letter but it'll arrive too late for the lender to send a mortgage offer to the lender and as a result we're going to be homeless for a while.
Is this likely to be because of the class 2 NICs?

The tax year overview should reflect the tax due as per the calculation and will also reflect any additional charges such as surcharges, interest and penalties which are not included in the tax calculation. The tax year overview also reflects any payments made or other adjustments which are not included in the calculation. If your profits are above the threshold for class 2 or if below and you have elected to pay this voluntary these will be included in the calculation. For 2017/18 class 2 NIC was £2.85 per week, £148.20 for the year. I would be unable to comment as to why there is a discrepancy between the calculation and the tax year overview.
