Your self-employed tax return

Hi,

I only started as a self-employed in February 2017 and my turnover was less than £1,000 - as this is a part time job once a week most of the months. Could you please advice if i have to complete the self-assessment for this tax year?

Thank you,

Hi,

If your turnover for 2017/18 was less than the £1000 trading allowance and you do not wish to declare a loss or pay class 2 NIC voluntary then providing you have no other self assessment criteria the return will not be required.

If you have been issued with a return then you should contact HMRC for this to be withdrawn.

Information for contacting HMRC is available here:

Your self-employed tax return

Hi,
I live overseas but i receive rental income for a property i own in the UK. I am having difficulty submitting my tax returns online because i can't get my access code. I think it's because i am currently using a different mobile device to log into the app. It keeps asking me to scan a QR code but there is no QR code on the computer screen for me to scan.

I tried to reset everything but i don't have a UK address for identity verification because i no longer live in the UK.

Your self-employed tax return

Hello. I have a question and within last three day I am trying to contact the live chat. All the time it is busy.

Me and my partner have been self-employed. We have applied to stop being self-employed few months ago. We have left UK permanently and I would like to check it is done and we do not need to do tax return or to pay any taxes.
How could I check it?

Hi
I have had difficulty in accessing my tax assessment through the government access gateway. It has taken over 3 weeks to allow me to access my account.
This has delayed me in doing my tax submission. I still hope to complete my online tax in time, but if I cannot, will this be taken into account?
Thanks

Hi,

If you are unable to submit your return before 31 January 2019 you may incur a £100 late filing penalty. You can appeal penalties but we need to have the tax return on file.

Please contact the self assessment helpline on 0300 200 3310 for assistance to complete the return.

We can also make a note on your record that you have problems filing online.

I hope this helps.
