Payment of tax certificate.

31/08/2017 08:00:40
The following question was received on 29/08 from Tom Buncle however it was incorrectly sent to a dormant account and is now posted here.

I have been asked by a foreign client to produce a certificate from my country's tax authorities confirming I have paid all tax owned on my last years income. They are withholding 30% of fees owed to me until I can submit this. My accountant is unable to advise me how to obtain such a thing. Can anyone advise me how I can obtain a certificate of payment of UK Tax, so I can get paid in full

Hi Tom,

In order to progress this matter, please click on the link below and apply for a certificate of residence, you will also find detailed information on why you are required to apply for this and provide it for your overseas employer.

I think it's worth to say that HMRC needs on average 2 months to issue a certificate for a Limited company.
Because such long time is unacceptable in most countries you should let your client know this is a normal procedure here and you cannot do anything to chase it up
