Expenses for Rented Property for Individual

19/10/2017 08:55:58
Hi

This is my first post so hope I am doing this right. I am a bookkeeper and have a client who works part time and also rents out her previous property. I believe she can claim mileage or running costs for the vehicle if the journey is specifically for the purpose of visiting the property for maintenance etc. I did recently see a HMRC webinar on the subject but am still confused about whether she can claim mileage or running costs and how this is broken down. I was steered towards this forum by a member of HMRC at a recent ICB Summit so I am hoping someone can clarify this for me. Thanks. Sue

Some people do claim visits. You claim 45p per mile. It can either go in cost of services or other property expenses.
