Hi, I have just filled out my tax return for 17-18. I am employed on PAYE so have been paying taxes throughout the year but I also earned a small amount from renting a property. This has changed my student loan liability for that year and the calculation shows that I owe this sum before 31st Jan. However I am near the end of my student loan payments and have set up a direct debit wit the SLC to take the final 4 payments. How can I enter these details on my self assessment so that I can have my payment summary re-calculated please? (the amount being requested is actually greater than the total remaining Student Loan balance). Thanks.
You can amend the return to show that you do not have an outstanding student loan. Please contact the self assessment helpline on 0300 200 3310 if you require assistance to amend the return.
