I don't want to be repaid the money owing to me for last year as I will just have to pay it out again a few minutes later when I'm asked for a tax payment on account for this current year. How do I get past this page on the tax return? It just keeps asking for my account details. Geoff
The system will only repay you if there is a credit available to be repaid to you. If you have payments on account they will get have any credit allocated to them first. Meaning you cannot get a repayment anyway if you payment on account is greater than the credit. I would input my bank details and continue as you are in no danger of receiving a payment.
Well why put the bank details in? Extra time and trouble. I am always asked to pay more at the end of the assessment, and always later sent a letter saying I have overpaid tax. This has been going on for several years and wastes everyone's time. Thank you for your response but I really just want to avoid these pages altogether - there is no option to say NO I do not wish to be repaid.
There is the option to say you don't have a bank account, this would mean any repayment would be sent to you by payable order.
We understand where you are coming from, the system is designed to ensure repayments are generated as efficiently as possible for those who need them. Unfortunately this does mean customers like yourself receive a repayment, and are then required to make a payment on account.
