Self Assessment Q&A session on Thursday 17th January 15:00 - 16:00 - Session ended
I have given £50 to a charity in 2017/18.
They then got £12.50 gift aid in addition to this.
I am a higher rate tax payer.
Under the Tax Relief part of the Self Assessment form, which boxes do I put which amounts in?

You will need to access to the section Tailor Your Return and from there you will see the question, Did you give to charity? Select yes
I hope this helps.
I can see the boxes, but I am unsure of which figures to put in which box

You would declare the donation you made to the charity

does it affect my tax?

Yes charity donations can, if selected as Gift Aid, effect how much tax you pay in a year. However this only effects Higher Rate Taxpayers. If you are a 20% taxpayer it will not effect your tax.
