Use of Distribution centre for EU material held in UK

22/03/2019 15:19:24
We currently import packaging material from EU and non-EU factories to a distribution centre based in the UK, from where we consolidate loads and deliver them to customers based in UK mainland, N Ireland and Republic of Ireland
We hold AEO status, EORI and TSP numbers.

Material held in our distribution centre is located in segregated bays and is clearly identifiable as destined for UK mainland, N Ireland and Republic of Ireland.

Will we be able to continue to operate such a system in the case of a no-deal Brexit, or will we need to operate direct delivery to Republic of Ireland

Hi Donna,

Thanks for your question.

There is no requirement to operate segregation or direct delivery as such from the EU to the ROI (who are also in the EU).

If the UK leaves the EU without a deal then movements from the EU to the UK will be classed as imports and movements from the UK to ROI will be classed as exports and declarations as such are required. This is assuming that no Special Procedures are in place, as per Notice 3001.

Details of Special Procedures can be found on gov.uk website and via the following link:

Notice 3001: customs special procedures for the Union Customs Code
