Direct Debit changed but will previous quarter's claim be made?

01/05/2019 11:09:10
We have registered for Making Tax digital and received confirmation all set up and Direct Debit changed.
BUT this indicates the direct debit reference has been changed. Will the direct debit for March 1/4 end return (due 12 May) be debited from our bank account?
Looking on Government Gateway, it says we don't have any outstanding monies - BUT we do from last quarter - but obviously under old direct debit reference.
Rang HMRC and chap didn't understand the issue, couldn't get me through to the Making Tax Digital helpline and promised a phone call back from them but not received.

Hi there,

We would require access to your VAT records to confirm a Direct Debit is set up.

If you have been promised a callback, this should be done within 5 working days.

If you have not received contact within that time please call the VAT Helpline again on 0300 200 3701 and make them aware.

Thank you.

NEVER received a call back.
direct debit set up under old system and claimed quarterly without issue
direct debit amended (by hmrc) and email confirming amendment for making tax digital
BUT last quarters direct debit NOT taken
HMRC web site says nothing outstanding but there is (on old VAT system)

NO point saying ring helpline as you just get put on hold forever with messages saying they are busy.

What a mess. All we want to do is settle our liability
