Hi

if we pay the insurance company directly for adding employee's partner on to the company car insurance for that employee, how do we account for the extra insurance premium? Is it taxable for the employee or their partner?
Is the extra premium classified as benefit ?

I would say it is already covered by the car benefit of the employee and does not need to be declared. Nobody needs to know the insurance policy on fleet cars when reporting car benefit.

You pay tax on company cars if you or your family use a company car privately including for commuting.
I can confirm that Car Benefit arising in respect of use of a company car covers all the costs associated with the running of the car except fuel. As such there is no separate Benefit In Kind applicable for the insurance cover on the Company Car. You pay tax on company cars if you or your family use a company car privately including for commuting.
