Thank you for your question. There are certain situations when you cannot use HMRC's service to file your Self-Assessment tax return online; one of these are if you lived abroad as a non-resident. Under the circumstances, you have the option of either purchasing 3rd party software to submit your return online or completing a paper tax return.
