Corporation Tax

If you’re trading as a limited company, you’ll need to register the company for Corporation Tax.

Corporation Tax is the tax paid by companies on the taxable profits they make.

There are different rules for working out the profits in company accounts and the profits for Corporation Tax. The profits shown in company accounts aren’t always the same as the profits in the Company Tax Return.

Companies have to send HMRC a Company Tax Return online and pay any Corporation Tax due electronically.

As a director of the company you’ll be treated as an employee for PAYE purposes. Find out more by signing up for help and education through gov.uk https://www.gov.uk/government/news/webinars-emails-and-videos-on-employing-people

Hi
We are a small CIC and having great difficulty filing our accounts online. We have a P & L and Balance sheet but the CT600 bears no resemblance to the wording used on our Company accounts. We need to file by Friday and we cannot find any support with 'which figures from the accounts do we put in which boxes on the CT600'

Can anyone help? or are we doomed to a fine!

Hi
I have registered for VAT online for my small company and have now tried to register for corporation tax but it tells me that I am already registered even though when I login with my VAT password I can not see it on my homepage.
Should I have a totally different password just for corporation tax? How do I get this

Hi Steve

If the company is registered online under the business tax account, the user should be able to just add the Corporation tax service to the existing account by following the ‘Get another tax, duty or scheme’ option from the main page. You shouldn’t need a totally different log in for each service.

If it states that the user is already enrolled for the service then the user may have registered already under a separate account for Corporation Tax. The user will need to contact Online Service Help to check the services that they are enrolled for and possible duplicate online accounts.
