Tax return for new Limited Company that has not yet traded

25/01/2018 21:40:15
I started a new Limited company earlier this year with a view to starting to work for myself (I'm therefore a director). However, it never happened and I have traded under the company and I'm still employed by my original employer.

Do I need to submit Tax Returns?

Hi
If you are a director of a Limited company during the tax year, you will need to complete a tax return.

If you are employed by another company as an employee , there may be no requirement to complete a tax return.

Please see the attached link which will confirm whether or not he needs to complete a tax return.

However, with regards to Corporation Tax, if the company never started trading and was effectively dormant, a Company Tax return would not be required. The Company would have to make sure that they have informed HMRC that the Company is dormant
