Subject: Paying Class 2/Class 4 National Insurance
Hi,

I have completed my tax return as self employed sole trader, my income is below £ 11,000 and from the online form it seems that I don't have to pay any amount for National Insurance ? Nor Class 2 or Class 4? Is there a way to double check this?
Many thanks

Hi,

You would pay Class 2 National Insurance if your Self Employed profit was over £5965 at a rate of £2.80 per week.

Class 4 would be charged at 9% of your profit over £8060.

You can check if you are registered by contacting our webchat advisors at https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs/contact/self-assessment.

Thanks
