Property Insurance

Guidance states that a self employed person who uses their home (eg 2/8 rooms in our case) can claim Property Insurance.

Does that mean buildings and contents property insurance or just property?

Should that be the same proportion calculation used for claiming lighting/heating expenses?

Many thanks - last question!

Thanks but it's ok, I've just submitted without claiming it. I'll try and find the answer before this time next year.

Hi Gill

I managed to speak to a technical advisor for you - you would only be able to claim fro a portion of building insurance - not property

Hi Gill

You have buildings insurance which basically covers the structure of the building and contents insurance which covers personal belongings etc inside the property. Hope this makes things a bit clearer.
